CHESAPEAKE, Va. — The Chesapeake Humane Society is urgently looking for fosters, hoping to send dogs to a loving home over the holidays.
The animal shelter started an initiative over the Thanksgiving holiday to foster out all of the dogs in their kennels. They achieved their goal, emptying the kennels for the first time ever.
"It was great for our staff to be able to spend a little extra time with their family, but it was also great for the dogs," said Assistant Shelter Manager Alyssa Desena. "So when they returned [after Thanksgiving], every single dog minus one was adopted the day they returned... and she was just adopted yesterday."
Now the Chesapeake Humane Society is hoping to do it again over the Christmas holiday, from December 24 to December 27. They are concentrating on larger
