The Illinois Department of Transportation said all lanes on the Interstate 24 Ohio River Bridge between Metropolis and Paducah are scheduled to reopen by the end of the day today.

The reopening marks the completion of Phase 1 of the $38 million rehabilitation project on the interstate crossing. Phase 1 work included deck repairs, structural steel improvements, and joint replacements aimed at extending the life of the bridge.

Lane restrictions will return when Phase 2 begins on March 1.

The entire project of paving and repainting is planned over three consecutive construction seasons, wrapping up in the fall of 2027.
