A dad was caught on the M53 with a massive haul of cocaine stashed in the boot of his car. Edwin Fleming, 31, was paid £100 to transport the bag of high-purity drugs, said to be worth up to £99,000.

The incident occurred at around 7pm on on October 2 this year, when police officers in an unmarked car pulled over a Ford Kuga, driven by Fleming, at junction 4 of the M53 motorway. Prosecutor Daniel Bramhall told Liverpool Crown Court today, December 12: "Upon the officers attending it was noticed there was a strong smell of cannabis coming from the vehicle. This raised concerns that the defendant could be under the influence of drugs.
