City staff and councillors packed a room at the Benson Centre on Thursday night, ready to talk all things 2026 budget during the Resident Café, but only a few residents actually turned up.
With school buses cancelled throughout the region Thursday, and the annual Sisters’ Cup hockey clash between the Holy Trinity Falcons and St. Joseph’s Panthers postponed, the Benson Centre was fairly quiet. In all, over a dozen residents attended the third-annual café.
One resident in attendance, who wished to remain anonymous, said he enjoyed the opportunity to connect directly with city staff members. He said the budget process is confusing and difficult to understand, and believes that’s why many residents didn’t turn out, in addition to the roads being messy.
