A Geminid Meteor Shower Watch Party will be held from 8-10 p.m. Saturday at Roaring River State Park, south of Cassville. This event will take place in the Emory Melton Inn parking lot, just south of the park office along Highway 112. The restaurant at the inn will be selling warm grab-and-go food and drinks during the event. The Geminid meteor shower is one of the biggest meteor showers of the year. Participants should dress for the weather. Registration is not required. Attendees are encouraged to bring flashlights, lawn chairs, and money for food and drinks. Telescopes and binoculars are welcome but are not necessary, as the meteor shower can be seen with the naked eye. In the event of precipitation or thick cloud cover, the viewing will be canceled.
