PARSONS, Kan. — Plans to install a nuclear reactor under the prairie at a Labette County industrial park are moving with a speed that unnerves some Parsons area residents.

Deep Fission, a California company pioneering underground nuclear reactors as a faster and cheaper way to make electricity, announced that the Great Plains Industrial Park would be the site of their pilot project on Thursday, Dec. 4. Five days later they broke ground. ×
