MANCHESTER, N.H. —

With a major deadline passing in the health care debate in Washington, key players are still insisting there is time left to make a deal.

U.S. Sen. Maggie Hassan, D-New Hampshire, said she and other Democrats aren't giving up, and even President Donald Trump is signaling he still wants to negotiate.

"We have a lot of Democrats, and we welcome you – honestly, we do – and I think we're going to start working together on health care," Trump said. "I really predict that."

Democrats have been calling for an extension of tax credits under the Affordable Care Act. The end of open enrollment in January is now being viewed as another potential deadline to get something done before skyrocketing premiums on the exchanges are set in stone.
