DES MOINES, Iowa —
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says norovirus is spreading faster and earlier this year compared to past winters.
The virus is spread through contaminated food and water. It mostly impacts children.
A new report shows that Iowa has "medium" levels of infection.
KCCI talked to the Polk County Health Department who says the stomach bug is typical in the winter. They say the number one way to avoid getting sick is to wash your hands.
The virus has popped up all over the country.
In Massachusetts, one school district has cancelled classes after more than 100 students caught the bug.
