UNION COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) - A former deputy with the Union County Sheriff’s Office has been indicted for using excessive force during an arrest in April, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
TBI said agents began an investigation in April into the circumstances leading up to a “use-of-force” incident involving now-former Deputy Ashton Lambert.
During the investigation, TBI agents learned that Lambert used excessive force while arresting a woman in Maynardville on April 10.
When the allegations surfaced, TBI said the sheriff’s office fired Lambert.
The Union County Grand Jury returned indictments charging Lambert, 32, with one count of assault and one count of official oppression on Dec. 2, according to TBI, and he turned himself in on Thursday and was booked into the Un
