KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - The Knoxville Fire Department said an investigation is underway after a church caught fire Saturday morning.

According to KFD, crews responded to a church on Dayton Street at around 11:35 a.m. after dispatchers were notified of smoke coming from the windows.

On the scene, KFD said crews were able to quickly extinguish most of the fire, with it being under control within 10 minutes.

“The church suffered some fire damage, significant water damage and a lot of smoke damage,” KFD said in a release. “The building seems to not be actively used.”

No injuries were reported KFD said, adding that investigators are still working to determine a cause for the fire.
