A fire that broke out in a vacant south Windsor home Thursday night is being called suspicious, according to Windsor Fire and Rescue Services.
Crews were called to the 4300 block of Mount Royal Drive around 7:45 p.m. Acting Chief Fire Prevention Officer John Smith said firefighters arrived to find smoke coming from what “appeared to be a split-level house.”
“They gained entry and quickly extinguished the fire,” said Smith.
A fire investigator was called in later that night. Smith said the investigator “determined that there were multiple areas of origin of fire, which means there was fire in areas separate from the original fire."
He says they believe the house was unsecured at the time of arrival. Further explaining, the home was vacant, though utilities were still connected.
