ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — A student was stabbed at North Atlanta High School on Friday morning, according to Atlanta Public Schools.

The stabbing stemmed from a fight between two students near the cafeteria, “during which one student sustained an injury involving a pair of scissors,” the district said in a statement.

The student injured is being treated at a hospital.

APS told Atlanta News First’s Joshua Skinner that the fight was an isolated incident, and no other students were involved.

“Atlanta Public Schools takes matters involving student safety very seriously,” the district said. “The incident is being investigated by school administrators, following all applicable student discipline protocols, and by Atlanta Public Schools Police, with criminal charges pending.”
