LAKE LINDEN — The Calumet Copper Kings boys used a big second quarter to create some separation between themselves and the host Lake Linden-Hubbell Lakes Thursday. They held off a big push by the Lakes late to come away with a 58-53 win.
Peter Torola led the Copper Kings with 18 points, including picking up a pair of free throws in the fourth to cap his scoring.
He was one of three Calumet players in double figures as Owen Loukus had 15 points, including three 3-pointers, and Andrew Junttila had 14, including a 3-pointer and three free throws.
For the Lakes, Blake Lebo led all scorers with 20 points, including two 3-pointers. Josh Daavettila added 16.
