MONCKS CORNER — More than three years after a man brutally beat, strangled and stabbed his wife — who survived the encounter — a Berkeley County jury found him guilty of high and aggravated domestic violence.

Don Antoin Woody, 49, of Goose Creek received the maximum sentence possible on Dec. 10. He was sentenced to nearly 20 years in state prison, earning credit for a little more than 100 days spent in pre-trial detention, according to court documents.

Police arrested Woody on June 15, 2022. He was initially charged with kidnapping in addition to domestic violence, but a jury acquitted him on that charge.
