SOME POLITICAL observers might think it’s a reach, but the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee (DLCC) has added the New Hampshire Senate to its targeted map to take over legislative bodies in the 2026 midterms.

Republicans hold a 16-8 majority in the Senate and — thanks to redistricting the GOP-led Legislature adopted in 2021 — there are far more safe Republican seats than there were in the previous decade.

In a DLCC memo, President Heather Williams said flipping the Senate is winnable in this climate.

“2026 is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to fundamentally transform state legislative power, including making inroads in New Hampshire,” Williams said in a statement.
