A life-sized cutout of Buddy the Elf was stolen from Bakers Candies in Greenwood during the busy holiday season, but a local family stepped in to replace it, ensuring the Christmas spirit remained intact.

Baker's Candies is an essential stop during Christmastime for many families in Nebraska, with a tradition of decorating the store with cardboard cutouts for each season. Owner Todd Baker took to social media after security footage showed someone walking out with their beloved Buddy the Elf cutout on Black Friday.

"A young man came into the store, cased the place for a while, grabbed him, and ran out the front door. And so, the whole thing was on video," Baker said.
