MOORHEAD, Minn. — A northwestern Minnesota middle schooler has been arrested after allegedly being found with more than 1,500 pills laced with fentanyl.

According to the Moorhead Police Department, a student at Horizon Middle School alerted staff that a 13-year-old had a large quantity of blue pills. The school resource officer was able to secure the pills from the teen without incident, officials said.

Police say, based on field testing and appearance, they are believed to be fentanyl-laced counterfeit M30 pills. Lab testing is being done to confirm the contents.

The 13-year-old student was arrested for possession of a controlled substance.
