MACON, Ga. — A man was convicted of murdering a woman who was driving home from a birthday party in Macon.
The Macon Judicial Circuit District Attorney's Office said in a release that a Bibb County jury convicted Quteavis Quayshon Simmons on Friday.
They said that in 2021 Simmons, who was 30 at the time, fired three shots into Harriett Patrick's vehicle after she was driving home from a birthday party.
Patrick was on Eisenhower Parkway when Simmons fired shots, the DA said.
They said that Simmons thought "the driver was his former girlfriend's new lover."
Simmons shot Patrick in her stomach, and Patrick then called her husband and son for help, the release said. They also said that she drove herself home to meet emergency responders.
