PADUCAH, Ky. (WSIL) -- A man was arrested on December 13 in connection to a shooting death investigation of a woman at a local business.

The Paducah Police Department said they responded to KC's Bar and Grill in the 3500 block of Park Plaza Drive at around 3:14 a.m. after reports of a shooting. Police said witnesses identified Phillip Whitnel as the shooter, saying he entered the establishment, shot the victim multiple times, and fled the scene.

Detectives stated Whitnel and the victim had a previous relationship. Authorities obtained a warrant charging Whitnel with murder based on their findings.

Illinois State Police tracked Whitnel to Franklin County, Illinois, where they arrested him during a traffic stop, Paducah Police reported. He was then taken to the Franklin County Jail pendin
