A popular Asian supermarket in Glasgow city centre has announced its sudden closure after 10 years. OAKA Supercity on George Street declared that it will shut its doors in early January due to rising costs which have made it 'impossible' for the business to go on.
Its owners took to social media on Saturday, December 13 to announce their 'love and gratitude' to locals who supported the store, which specialises in food products from China, Japan, Hong Kong, Korea, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines and Singapore, over its 10-year run.
OAKA stated on Instagram: "After 10 incredible years, it’s time for us to say goodbye to our George Street shop. This isn’t a post we ever wanted to write, but rising costs have made it impossible to continue operating.
