OTTAWA COUNTY, MI – A woman was seriously injured Saturday morning when a tanker truck unable to stop at a red light slid through an intersecting and hit an SUV.

Rescue crews were called at 8:48 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, to the area of northbound U.S. 31 and Port Sheldon Street in Olive Township for a reported crash in the intersection, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.

A man, 39, was driving a tanker truck loaded with liquid nitrogen north on U.S. 31 when the light at the intersection turned red, police said.

The man was unable to stop the truck due to icy conditions and slid through the intersection crashing into the driver’s side of a passing SUV, police said.
