Every year during the holiday season, Rey Banda brings Christmas decorations out of storage and sets them up in the front yard of his home near Bridge Avenue and 18th Street in Weslaco.
Each of the 90 decorations have their assigned place in Northopolis.
“I wanted it to be the most unique house,” Banda said.
Banda started creating these larger-than-life characters right out of college in 2000. Products used include wood, cloth and PVC pipes.
“Some of it was trial and error,” Banda said.
In the 25 years of doing this, the home has been featured on ABC’s "The Great Christmas Light Fight" in 2019, and "The Texas Bucket List" in 2022.
These characters can take nearly six months to complete.
