One person was killed in a crash on Route 7 in Pittsford, Vermont, early Saturday morning, according to State Police.

It happened around 5 a.m., when a trailer came off semi truck that was traveling on the highway in Pittsford.

The driver stopped near the intersection with Giddings Lane to try to reattach the trailer, but before they could, an SUV crashed into it.

The SUV's driver, identified as 54-year-old Christopher Cyr of Rutland, died at the scene. The truck driver was taken to Rutland Regional Medical Center with a minor injury.

Vermont State Police, the Regional Ambulance Service, the Pittsford Fire Department, and Pittsford First Response were all involved in the call.
