A man driving in a stolen vehicle was shot by police after attempting to evade arrest on Saturday morning in Pittsburgh.
At 9:40 a.m., state patrollers saw a stolen Infinity traveling eastbound on I-376. The driver did not pull over when police activated their lights and sirens, leading to a chase along Crane Avenue, officials said.
The man exited the vehicle on Crane Avenue, attempting to flee on foot, when an officer shot him, police said.
The man was treated at the scene before he was taken to a local hospital. He has since been released and is in state police custody.
Crane Avenue will be closed as the Major Case Unit conducts an investigation, Pennsylvania State Police said on X. Motorists should consider an alternative route “for the remainder of the day.”
