Syracuse, N.Y. — Redshirt freshman quarterback Jakhari Williams intends to enter the transfer portal, he announced Saturday.

He came to Syracuse as a three-star recruit in the Class of 2024 and the Georgia player of the year at First Presbyterian.

“I want to sincerely thank Syracuse University and the entire coaching staff for the opportunity to be a part of the program,” Williams said in a statement he posted to social media. “I am incredibly grateful for the relationships I’ve built, the lessons I’ve learned and the growth I’ve experienced both on and off the field.”

Williams has three seasons of eligibility remaining.

Williams did not play in a game during his Syracuse career. He was able to claim third-string responsibilities as a true freshman and maintained that position until
