STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The first accumulating snowfall of the season will come down on New York City Saturday night.
Will this be nothing more than a few flakes, or will a snow plow be required?
According to the latest forecasts, residents should keep those shovels handy, as the city will generally receive anywhere from two to just a little over four inches of snow.
As of Saturday afternoon, the National Weather Service foresees Staten Island receiving more than four inches.
And while snow may begin to fall on the city as early as 7 p.m. Saturday, the steadiest snowfall is expected to come down in the overnight hours. At some point before 10 a.m. Sunday, snowfall rates are likely to reach half an inch per hour before 10 a.m. Sunday, according to the weather service.
