GRAND FORKS – Grand Forks school and district leaders discussed combining elementary schools, cutting courses and reducing student technology services during a School Board retreat on Friday, Dec. 12.

More than 40 district leaders, administrators, staff members, teachers and School Board members met to discuss budgetary priorities as a part of a larger budget realignment conversation in the district. This was the fourth of five retreats, scheduled after the district announced a $4.4 million deficit in the 2025-2026 budget.

Throughout the conversation, school and district leaders acknowledged the difficulty and discomfort of deciding where to implement budget cuts across the district, but agreed that the process was necessary.
