Oliver Karalunas, 5, waited patiently to see Santa Claus parade around Wilkes-Barre Public Square in a fire truck on Saturday.
When it came time to sit on Santa’s lap, he asked him for one thing: “a ride on the fire engine.”
Oliver was one of several children to attend Wilkes-Barre City’s annual Santa on the Square event to take photos with Old St. Nick and meet with Wilkes-Barre first responders.
“My favorite part was getting my favorite kind of candy,” Oliver said as he whipped out four boxes of Dots from his coat pockets.
Wilkes-Barre police and fire departments distributed candy, as well as educational materials, to children and their families.
“They were thrilled to see Santa come around the square on the fire engine,” said Assistant Fire Chief Travis Temarantz.
