COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - “Remembering the fallen, honoring those who serve and teaching our children the value of freedom.” That is the mission of Wreaths Across America.
Family members and volunteers placed thousands of wreaths on the graves of the nation’s fallen heroes at Fort Jackson National Cemetery.
For 17 years, the tribute has continued, ensuring every gravesite has a wreath.
It’s a sacred ceremony of a nation promising to never forget the cost of freedom.
Col. Chesley Thigpen, deputy commanding officer at Fort Jackson, said it is a privilege to honor and remember the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice.
