COLCHESTER, Vt. (WCAX) - Volunteers placed Christmas wreaths on more than 1,000 graves at Fort Ethan Allen Cemetery Saturday as part of Wreaths Across America ceremonies held across Vermont.
Organizers reached their goal of placing over 10,000 wreaths on Vermont veterans’ graves statewide. Volunteers braved cold weather to participate in the annual tribute, while cadet color guard enhanced the Colchester ceremony.
“Saturday and cold weather, so one, to be a volunteer is just the pinnacle of service, and to see so many people come out and rally around their community, and do the community service, I mean especially in this day and age we all need to lean in and help each other out, so seeing folks show up is just fantastic,” said Jefre Palmer, Burlington Squadron Civil Air Patrol commande
