Richie Rosa tallied 24 points for St. Peter’s Prep, No. 4 in the NJ.com Top 20, to help take the win over Colonia, 62-35, in the NJBCA Tip-Off Classic at Montgomery High School.

Late in the second quarter, Rosa drove to the basket to sink a layup for his 1,000th career point. Rosa now has 1,011 points in his career.

Colonia took a 13-11 lead after the first quarter before St. Peter’s Prep (1-0) fought back with an 18-12 second quarter to take a 29-25 lead into halftime.

St. Peter’s Prep outscored Colonia 33-10 in the second half to extend its lead. Colonia was held to single-digit point totals in the second half.

Oscar Martinez and Mason Santiago each scored nine points for St. Peter’s Prep.
