Mason Determann led Montclair with 18 points, six rebounds, six assists, five steals and four blocks in its 62-53 win over Paterson Eastside in its season opener in Paterson.

Paterson Eastside (0-1) outscored Montclair 31-22 in the first half.

Montclair (1-0) pushed back in the second half with an 18-17 third quarter to cut the lead to 48-40.

The Montclair defense put in the work and held Paterson Eastside to five points in the third quarter while the offense put up 22 points to turn the tables and give Montclair the win.

La’Mear Singletary tallied 14 points for Montclair with six rebounds, five steals and four assists. Kody Nesbitt scored 10 points with four assists and three rebounds. Mez Okaro recorded nine rebounds with four points and three assists.
