Newark Academy started its season strong with a commanding 60-21 victory over Franklin School (Jersey City) in Jersey City.

The Minutemen were led by a balanced scoring attack, with four players reaching double figures. Chase Perilman paced Newark Academy with 14 points, including four 3-pointers. Lachlan Wallace added 10 points, while Shane Sampson and Avery Sampson chipped in eight points apiece.

Newark Academy set the tone early, outscoring Franklin School 22-5 in the second quarter to take a 32-11 lead into halftime. The Minutemen continued to pour it on in the second half, extending their lead to as many as 39 points.

While the offense was clicking, Newark Academy’s defense was equally impressive. It held Franklin School (0-2) to just 21 points for the game and single-digit scoring
