Montgomery, No. 9 in the NJ.com Top 20, opened its season with a 66-47 victory over No. 7 Don Bosco Prep in the NJBCA Tip-Off Classic at Montgomery High School in Skillman.

The Cougars were led by career-high performances from Connor Benedict and Mike Simborski. Benedict drained a career-best seven 3-pointers en route to 21 points, while Simborski poured in a game-high 23 points, also a career high.

Don Bosco Prep hung tough early, trailing just 28-24 at halftime. But Montgomery took control in the third quarter, outscoring the Ironmen 25-11 to build a commanding 53-35 lead heading into the fourth.

Ethan Lin provided a spark for Montgomery with 16 points.

JP Skoric paced Don Bosco Prep with 26 points. Jaylen Lewis added 12 points on four 3-pointers.
