Proposals to transform empty commercial premises on Wearside into residential accommodation have been lodged with local authority planning officials.

Sunderland City Council's development control team has received an application concerning 207-209 Gleneagles Road within the municipality's Sandhill ward.

The property sits at the end of a terrace of business units in a residential area in Grindon and new plans aim to repurpose the site’s upper floors.

The scheme involves converting the former commercial space back to domestic use, with intentions to establish "two separate maisonettes."

The submitted blueprints reveal each three-bedroom dwelling would span the first and second storeys with comparable arrangements.
