A winter storm dumped several inches of snow across Western Pennsylvania on Saturday and overnight Sunday, leaving slick roads and triggering cancellations of numerous church services as cold temperatures settled in.
The National Weather Service was calling for a continued chance of snow showers through much of the day with a high around 16 degrees and wind chill values as low as -4 degrees. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than a half inch is possible, the weather service said.
Unofficial reports of snowfall totals sent to the agency varied widely across the region, with some snow spotters calculating more than 6 inches had fallen by around midnight and others tallying just an inch or two.
