ST. LOUIS ( KMOV /Gray News) - Two people were killed while changing a tire on an interstate in St. Louis on Friday.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, a woman was driving a Kia K4 on Interstate 55 when the car’s front tire went flat around midnight. The woman stopped on an entrance ramp and stood outside the car while a man she knew worked on the tire.

A Dodge Ram struck both the woman and the man before hitting a guardrail and coming to a stop.

The driver of the Dodge Ram told police he saw the Kia, but did not realize there were people standing outside.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The man was taken to the hospital, where he later died.

The Dodge Ram driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
