A 32-year-old man was acquitted of second-degree murder in the slaying of his cousin in his Warren home seven years ago.
Reinaldo Jamison was found not guilty by a jury that deliberated less than two hours Friday following closing arguments and a two-week trial in front of Judge Joseph Toia of Macomb County Circuit Court in Mount Clemens. The jury also was allowed to consider the lesser charge of manslaughter.
It was the third trial in the case after his 2019 second-degree murder conviction was overturned by the state Court of Appeals because his attorney at the time failed to pursue a self-defense claim, and a mistrial last year due to a hung jury.
