ELLINGTON, Conn. (WFSB) - First responders rescued a horse in Ellington on Sunday morning.

At around 10:27 a.m. a 911 call came in concerning an incident involving a horse at summer riding camp located on Sandy Beach Road, according to the Crystal Lake Fire Department.

Due to the recent rainfall, a horse was stuck after getting out of a fenced paddock area and since staff asked first responders for help.

Firefighters on scene tried to help and also asked the Ellington Department of Public Works for assistance, to bring salt and sand trucks.

With the help of mutual aid and staff members of the riding camp, the horse was moved from the icy paddock.

SJ Riding Camp members took the horse into a stable to keep him warm.

No injuries were reported.
