BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - A registered sex offender accused of possessing child pornography has changed his plea after the start of a jury trial.

The U.S. Department of Justice announced on Wednesday, July 16, that Thomas Mills V, 58, of Baton Rouge, pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography.

The charge stems from an incident in October 2018.

According to officials, Zachary police found him in a vehicle parked in an alley behind a party store on Highway 19.

Police took him into custody after learning he was on probation for possession of child pornography, and the laptop and USB storage device on his front passenger seat violated his probation, according to officials.

Officers reported the recovery of around 19 electronic devices from Mills’ vehicle.
