John Nordstrom made his way through scattered oak, walnut and pine trees throughout his property in the Patagonia Mountains until he reached the edge of a pond that began to run dry about two years ago – a sign of diminishing water supply on his land.

Nordstrom added that the water level in his well has also dropped by 87 percent over the past year, according to data he obtained from South32 after he allowed the mining company to monitor his private well in 2021. ×
