WEST VIRGINIA (WVNS) - New legislation could help bring more energy innovation and tech investment to West Virginia.

House Bill 2014 has cleared the way for quick construction of microgrid data centers. These facilities will house small, self-contained energy systems. Legislators have said the tech will create jobs locally, and open doors to advancements in energy production and artificial intelligence. "My understanding, and we were briefed in Charleston on it, is to open up the state to these data centers," said West Virginia House of Delegates member Bill Roop, who represents Raleigh County. "For the appropriate location, they seem to be able to bring economic impact immediately to the counties, to the city, and to the citizens that would be employed there."
