A request to authorize the submission of a grant application by Superstition Community Food Bank in Apache Junction for $15,000 to increase access to fresh fruits and vegetables was approved recently by the Pinal County Board of Supervisors.

The board voted unanimously July 2 on a consent agenda with other items to approve a resolution seeking the funding from the Ak-Chin Indian Community Shared Revenue Program and for Pinal County to serve as the fiscal agent.

The funds will be used for the Fresh Pick Project at the food bank, 575 N. Idaho Road No 701, Executive Director Erik Arriola wrote in the application.

“The Fresh Pick Project, an initiative aimed at increasing access to fresh fruits and vegetables for individuals and families in need,” he said.
