WASHINGTON (KTIV) - Two Siouxland communities in Nebraska could receive funding to improve their firefighting capabilities and infrastructure projects.

South Sioux City can potentially get $2.5 million to fix its aerial fire truck, after U.S. Senator Deb. Fischer announced she had advanced over $60 million in funding for multiple Nebraska projects. This funding was included in the Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development (THUD) Appropriations Act, which now awaits consideration on the Senate Floor.

According to Sen. Fischer’s office, the funding is to support the improvement of critical infrastructure projects and firefighting capabilities across the state.
