MT. VERNON, Ill. (KFVS) - Multiple agencies responded to a deadly shooting overnight in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.

According to the Mt. Vernon Police Department, officers were called to the 600 block of S. 15th Street just before 1 a.m. on July 27 for multiple shooting reports.

When first responders arrived, they found several people who had been shot and needed to be taken to the hospital.

Police say two victims died. Five other victims are currently receiving treatment.

The identities of the victims are not being released at this time.

This investigation is ongoing.
