MOUNT VERNON, Ill. — As police investigate a mass shooting early Sunday that left two men dead and five people injured, the town’s mayor said officers are “not getting any cooperation” from people who attended a gathering of 100 to 150 people.

One woman has been arrested and charged with reckless discharge of a firearm and obstruction of justice while other arrests are expected, according to a Mount Vernon Police Department news release.

“It is very disheartening to me at this time that although this non-sanctioned event was attended by more than 100 to 150 people, we are not getting any cooperation with the attendees on what transpired,” Mayor John Lewis said in a statement. “That is unacceptable in this community.”
