SOUTH OZONE PARK, Queens (PIX11) – New York City Republican mayoral candidate Curtis Sliwa will lead a search on Monday for the man accused of setting a dog on fire in Queens, killing it.

The man was allegedly seen dragging the motionless dog and setting it ablaze near 128th Street and 116th Avenue around 4:45 a.m., according to authorities.

The ASPCA said the dog later died. The NYPD is conducting a necropsy on the animal to figure out what happened.

Police said the suspect was last seen wearing a maroon sweatshirt with a POLO logo in tan lettering across the chest, gray pants and a light brown MCM backpack.

Sliwa's search will start at the scene of the crime at 1 p.m., according to his schedule.
