THE BRONX (PIX11) -- After a teen was killed in a Bronx playground in a possible case of mistaken identity, his family has opened a fundraiser to give him a meaningful send-off.
The family of 14-year-old Ángel Miguel Mendoza has opened a GoFundMe to help raise funds for the teen's funeral costs as well as to send his body back to the Dominican Republic.
Mendoza was killed on Tuesday when a group of at least 10 young men attacked him and a 17-year-old at the Williamsbridge Oval Playground, witnesses told PIX11 News.
The 14-year-old was punched, kicked, pistol-whipped, and attacked with a scooter before he was stabbed multiple times, authorities and witnesses said. Mendoza was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
The 17-year-old was also stabbed in the abdomen and shoulder but was take
