QUEENS, N.Y. (PIX11) — A Queens father is facing up to 32 years in prison after being convicted of the 2022 murder of his 3-year-old son, Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz announced.

Shaquan Butler, 29, was convicted Wednesday night by a jury of murder, assault and six counts of endangering the welfare of a child, three years after being charged with the crimes.

According to the charges and trial testimony, Butler claimed his son choked while eating and that he'd attempted to save him while they were living at the Pan-American Hotel in Elmhurst, along with two other children and their mother.
