A Fort Lee police officer was hospitalized after being struck by a vehicle while escorting a funeral procession Monday morning, July 28 in Glen Rock, authorities said.
The crash happened around 9:52 a.m., at the intersection of Rock Road and Harding Plaza, Glen Rock Police Chief Dean Ackermann said.
The Fort Lee motor officer had his lights and siren activated when a 78-year-old Glen Rock woman drove into his motorcycle. Another motor officer had the intersection blocked at the time, police said.
The officer was taken by ambulance to Holy Name Medical Center in Teaneck with non-life-threatening injuries. His motorcycle was towed from the scene.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. The crash remains under investigation.
